1.  How long have you been at B-Fit and why did you want to join?
I’ve been at B-fit for almost 8 years. I worked out with Beverly some in high school and always loved her enthusiasm and encouragement!  I started when my twins were almost 2 years old, with a month-long boot camp. I wanted to give myself an outlet and get back into shape after a long time off due to 6 knee surgeries in college. I still struggle with knee issues, but Bev & Bob are great about working around it and with time my knees have greatly improved due to having stronger legs.
2.  What have you learned at B-Fit to help with your healthy and nutritional choices?
I’ve learned a ton about nutrition at B-fit over the years!  The most important part was finally realizing that in order to feel my best and see results, I had to fuel myself with good clean foods!  I also gave up gluten 5 years ago and that has really helped!
3.  What are your current/future nutrition goals?
I’ve recently given up dairy in the last month. It didn’t take long to realize I feel a lot better not eating dairy!  So I’m hoping I can keep that up!  Giving up dairy is harder for me than gluten.
4.  What would you tell others about the training and community atmosphere at B-Fit?
The atmosphere at B-fit is what keeps me coming back. The upbeat fun vibe makes working out enjoyable!  I’m also competitive, so I really enjoy the friendly competition that Bfit offers, especially with the MyZone heart rate monitor.
5.  You have experienced a Diastasis Recti surgery.  How did you prepare for the surgery with working out?
I had surgery a year ago to correct a large hernia and diastasis recti after having my 4 children. I worked out for about 18 months after I had my youngest trying to improve my core strength and muscle defect.  Working out helped improve my overall strength but my core was still so weak from the defect that I had daily back pain and functioning issues.
6.  How did training at B-Fit help with your recovery after surgery?
I took 8 weeks off after my surgery and started back very slowly until I regained my strength. One of the biggest things that have helped me improve my core after having the surgery was starting Pilates with Jennifer. After a couple of sessions, I fell in love with Pilates. I still have a long ways to go but it is neat to see how far I’ve come in core strength and how that overlaps into the B-fit sessions!  The surgery fixed the defect but Pilates and B-fit have helped me strengthen my core tremendously!
7.  What would you tell others that may have to stop working out for a period of time because of surgery?
 Over the years I’ve had to take time off due to having C-sections and also having the diastasis recti fixed. It’s never fun having to come back after 6-8 weeks off, but it is so worth the hard work!  Bob and Bev are great about working around injuries or surgeries and making sure the workout is safe and effective!
8.  What is your favorite and least favorite exercise?
My favorite exercise are pull-ups. My goal is to do them unassisted in the near future.
My least favorite is the sled!! No matter how many times I do it, I don’t think it ever gets any easier!
