Questions:
1. How long have you been at B-Fit and why did you want to join?
 I have been at B-Fit for seven years, I think.  Of course, Beverly will have the date of my original measurements and assessment.  It has been off and on due to some minor knee surgeries, my Achilles injury, and the busyness of a family of 6.

2.  What have you learned at B-Fit to help with your health and nutritional goals?
Simply, good health comes from controlling what you ingest.  You can’t exercise to overcome bad nutrition.  I don’t have the perfect diet, but Amy is a great cook which helps me have a much better balance.  We really try to eat right and take in a lot of water.  Keeps my 50-year-old, high mileage body feeling good.
3.  What are your current and future nutrition goals?
Summertime seems to really help us.  We grill out a lot and eat a lot of vegetables from the various farmers’ markets.
4.  You are recovering from an Achilles tear. How are you healing? How has that affected your fitness routine?
My Achilles tear was rough both physically and mentally.  During Thanksgiving break of 2017, I had meniscus cleanup of a knee, then worked hard at B-Fit to get myself in shape to go snow skiing in mid-March.  The trip went great, and my fitness level made skiing very enjoyable.  I was in good shape (for me), which is why the injury was so upsetting.  It’s a very slow and difficult recovery.  I got back into B-Fit this past February after 10 months.  Beverly and Bob have been great to do alternative, special exercises, and to pay attention to my Achilles.  I’m 100% now, but I don’t push it.  No super heavy pushing of the sled (lucky me,) and I’ve not been back on a tennis court.  I’m too competitive to not try to get to a ball that I should just let go.
5.  What would you tell others about the training and community atmosphere at B-Fit?
 I have always loved the atmosphere at B-Fit.  The accountability, mixed with an understanding when I have to reschedule, is a key.  Four kids, a busy orthodontic practice in 3 towns, and an active lifestyle can make it tough as everyone knows.  So, I’m glad to have the early morning sessions.  The boot camp sessions at 6:15 have been a great addition to the options.  The hour-long Friday and Saturday morning workouts really help the weekend get off to a good start.
I have always been impressed that the workouts are difficult without a high risk of injury.  Making sure that your form is correct can sometimes be “annoying” but is very important.  I have to remind myself, it’s what we are paying for.
A very enjoyable thing has been that Amy and I both are B-Fit people.  She doesn’t get to as many sessions as I do because she’s running kids around and her work, but I like when we get to workout together.  Also, two of our kids are now doing workouts to prepare for a long soccer season.
A wonderful addition to B-Fit has been the MyZone monitoring.  It feeds my competitive nature.  There is nothing like a good 200 plus point / 1000 calorie workout!  The connection with others really adds to the community atmosphere.  My sister-in-law is a MyZone connection of mine, and she lives in Louisville.
6. What is your favorite and least favorite exercise?
The Versa Climber is a love/ hate relationship.
