I started training with Beverly in her home over ten years ago. I continued with B-Fit through mid-2012, when family and work concerns forced me to stop. After I retired in 2015, I found myself gaining a few pounds each year. I just felt unhealthy and soon found I couldn’t wear my clothes any longer! I finally decided I needed to be proactive with my health and weight and returned to B-Fit in September 2018.
2. What have you learned at B-Fit to help with your healthy and nutritional goals? How are you doing your intermittent fasting and what results have you seen?
I have become much more aware of what I am eating. The old phrase “you are what you eat” is so true and unprocessed, organic produce is so important. I remember Beverly telling me years ago that overall health and weight control is largely dependent on diet, and I didn’t realize how right she was until recently. In searching for alternatives to “dieting,” I discovered intermittent fasting. When I started at B-Fit in September 2018, my body fat was 26.3%. I didn’t see very much change despite exercising until I began intermittent fasting. Since starting, I have gone from 26.3% body fat to 19.28% and I’m able to wear clothes I haven’t worn in years! For anyone interested, I highly recommend a book called The Obesity Code, which discusses the science behind fasting, and its many health benefits.
3. What are your current and future nutrition goals?
My current goals are to maintain my present weight while continuing to increase and tone muscle. I will continue to fast intermittently, as the health benefits are incredible.
4. What would you tell others about the training and community atmosphere at B-Fit?
Well, first of all it is completely non-judgemental. I cannot say enough about the positive atmosphere at B-Fit. Beverly, Bob, and Brandon have made my experience at B-Fit so enjoyable and encouraging. In addition, the clients of B-Fit are equally encouraging, and I have learned so much. From discussing where to find organic produce, to discussing practices to improve health, it’s fun to share and very mentally rewarding for me. It would be awfully hard to go to a workout and be discouraged afterward. When I leave B-Fit, energized and ready for the day.
5. What is your favorite and least favorite exercise?
Much to my surprise, my favorite exercise is the VersaClimber. It really ramps up my heart rate and earns those My Zone points! I have found that My Zone has been a great motivator for me. It helps me set a goal each workout and helps me challenge myself. My least favorite exercise is the sled, which I am pretty sure is an invention of the Devil.
